Our Passion is Outdoor Play
Our unique outdoor playscapes are designed to engage children’s innate curiosity and desire for self-directed exploration, risk-taking, and creativity. Our passion for building outdoor play spaces that foster free play comes from our belief that the lessons learned from self-directed, outdoor social play are critical to kids’ development and success later in life.
Child led and organized outdoor play builds foundational life skills such as the capacity for self-directed learning, problem-solving, and resilience, Kids that spend more time playing freely outdoors are healthier, more confident and independent, and less anxious and fearful.

At the Craft of Play, we believe that an important component of a beautiful childhood is being surrounded by beauty during childhood. We use felled timber and reclaimed lumber, vintage hardware and equipment, and traditional woodworking techniques to construct playscapes that bring beauty to your kids’ childhood and your property. Our playscapes oftentimes embed our handcrafted play structures in woodland landscapes designed to recreate the structure and beauty of native woodlands and forests. We are committed to using natural materials in our playscapes and supporting small American manufacturers in sourcing high-quality components for our playscapes.
